Stress Management

We All Deal with stress, management is key

Numerous studies indicate that around 40% of adults worldwide suffer from stress, with that number eclipsing 50% in the U.S. While some people are more adept at handling it than others, stress management is a challenge for many. After all, life’s challenges can feel overwhelming as we juggle work, relationships, finances, life transitions and social obligations, among others. We prioritize equipping clients with the foresight to anticipate triggers and the stress management techniques needed to minimize their impact. Furthermore, we explore possible lifestyle changes aimed at avoiding stressors, and ways to lean on your support system when they are unavoidable. What Stress Management Techniques do you teach?

We teach our clients how to manage stress using a holistic approach. This entails teaching clients a well-rounded skillset for anticipating, avoiding and coping with stress, as well as communicating feelings while seeking help and support from loved ones when needed. Therapy techniques we use for this include Mindfulness, Nonviolent Communication, Polyvagal Therapy and IFS Therapy. Ideally, clients will master these skills and become able to handle stress independently once their treatment with us is finished.

Stress is not what happens to us. It is our response to what happens. And response is something we can choose.

Therapy for stress management

As we begin working together, we will first take inventory of your stressors. This includes discussing your current coping strategies, environment, support system, and goals. Next, based on your unique circumstances, we will form a comprehensive plan to break negative habits while honing healthy coping skills. As you perfect these skills, we’ll analyze the most common situations you encounter stressors in and take steps to proactively mitigate their impact. Doing so gives you a sense of control and predictability over your stress responses, rather than panicking or relying on knee-jerk reactions. In time, you’ll gain more perspective and power over your own behavior patterns. If you’d like to discuss your stressors in more detail, click below to schedule a free consultation!
