about us

Brooke Butler | LMFT-A

I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist (LFMT) from Austin, Texas. After graduating from Texas State University with a major in psychology, I decided I wanted to pursue a career in counseling. I obtained my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, and during my residency, I found my calling. I would describe this as creating space for my clients to truly let their guard down and overcome the traumas, patterns, and beliefs that cause them to feel stuck in a rut.

I chose the name Evolution Austin Therapy because the premise behind evolution is the main reason people seek out counseling. Just like a caterpillar evolving into a butterfly, it is oftentimes necessary to evolve to fulfill your true potential. This can feel messy, painful, and vulnerable at first. However, putting in the work and consistently showing up for yourself will always lead to something beautiful.

In my free time, I love to spend time with friends, family, and my two cats. Some of my favorite pass times include reading, meditating and artistic pursuits. I like to refer to myself as a “nutritarian” which is a term coined by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. The term refers to one who eats whole food plant based, nutrient rich foods for the purpose of taking the best care of the body, mind and soul.

I also enjoy cooking and living an active lifestyle. Living a healthy life style is NOT about a number on the scale, but about feeling energized and healthy enough to fully express yourself, regardless of your size and weight. I honor all of who you are, I support all of who you are, and I am here to hold your hand through your evolution into who you want to be.

Megan Humphrey | LMFT-S

Hello, my name is Megan Humphrey and I have been licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Texas for over 10 years. In the past decade, I’ve worked in the government and non-profit sector, providing trauma therapy to our state’s most vulnerable citizens. This included working with child and adult survivors of crime, families affected by abuse, neglect and violence, and first responders coping with their everyday work experiences.

These invaluable experiences have led me to believe that anyone, with any circumstances, has the strength within them to overcome extreme challenges if given the right tools and resources. I view my role in counseling as a guide, and the counseling relationship as a blank slate for clients to reconstruct how they want their lives to look and feel. Whether it is family, romantic relationships, or past relationships that present a challenge in your life, the counseling space that we create together can enable a deeper understanding and clarify feasible steps to take towards a better future.

Megan Humphrey offers therapy services in Texas.

A native of Texas, I have spent the majority of my life in the piney woods of East Texas and the Hill Country. Naturally, I love spending time outdoors camping, hiking and swimming. I have a facility dog named Rain, who assists me in crisis response when requested. Rain was trained by Patriot Paws in Rockwall Texas, an incredible nonprofit with the mission to provide service animals to veterans nationwide.

My specialties include treatment of grief, anxiety, depression, traumatic stress, premarital/relationship counseling, teen counseling, and family counseling. The modalities I prefer to use include EMDR, CBT Therapy, DBT Therapy and IFS Therapy.
